Our Process

Our process starts by listening to your needs and desires. We want your new home to reflect your individual architectural and interior design styling preferences. We want your new home to incorporate the materials, design elements, and the flow that fits the way you live. We have the experience and capabilities to transform your vision into reality, no matter what your style or budget constraints.

We understand that when contemplating building your new home, the number of choices at every step of the way can leave you feeling overwhelmed. This feeling is even more pronounced in clients building their first custom home. You simply don’t know what you don’t know. You need a trusted advocate who can help you narrow your choices, understand the various price and value trade-offs, and empower you to make the right decisions for your unique situation.

Our Philosophy

We seek to under promise and over deliver. We build each home as if it were our own. We pay attention to the details you see, and the underlying construction materials and techniques that make your new home structurally sound and functional as well. We are as enthusiastic about building as you are – and probably more. True, there is a great deal of tedious work that goes into building a home, but it is fun to watch the progress, and truly satisfying to experience the final product. Ancient philosophers elaborated at length about the true, the good, and the beautiful. We believe the building process and end product allows us the privilege to experience all three.

About Us

General Contractor– Allen Conger Allen Conger, Contractor

Although Allen is a second generation builder, he did not start out in the construction industry. After earning an industrial engineering degree from North Carolina State University, he entered the field of medical equipment sales as a manufacturers’ representative. Initially selling both diagnostic and surgical ophthalmic equipment, later in his career selling total joint replacement prostheses to orthopedic surgeons. After years of extensive travel, Allen sought a new career that would allow him to be home at night. It seemed that an ideal way to transition into a new industry would be by advancing his education, so he entered The University of Chicago and earned his MBA in 1996. He worked primarily in the corporate finance arena until his father convinced him that the entrepreneurial path of a builder combined with the pace and beauty of the Charleston area was the best of all worlds. Joining his parents in 2002, Allen began to build upscale homes in Mt. Pleasant, Daniel Island, and downtown Charleston. He earned his unlimited General Contractor’s license in 2003. This license permits Allen to construct both commercial and residential buildings, whereas a residential builder’s license is not valid for commercial projects, but is easier to acquire. One offshoot of his extensive business knowledge and experience applied to Lowcountry Renaissance is efficient operations, low overhead, and aggressive purchasing strategies. This translates into a beautiful new home at a reasonable price for you.

I would certainly recommend Allen Conger as a builder for anyone building a new home particularly if they want a luxurious house with beautiful detailing. Allen and his team are professional, have first-class workmanship throughout their contraction, and they build a lasting product where anyone can be proud to live. The second house I purchased was built by Allen Conger.  All of the systems functioned perfectly; it had beautiful interior details, and was very solidly built. I never had any maintenance issues or any issues with regard to construction.
